Why Garment Remodelling Matters
Garment remodelling is ideal when a piece no longer suits your style, but still has enough structure or fabric to work with. A dress can become more versatile, a skirt can be reshaped, and a shirt or jacket can be restyled into something that feels current without losing its original character.
Upcycling is especially valuable for vintage clothing and sentimental garments. Rather than replacing what you already own, we look for practical ways to reuse existing material and preserve the parts that matter most. The result depends on the fabric, seam allowances, wear, and overall construction, so every concept is reviewed carefully before work begins.
A better fit is only one part of the story. Remodelling can also help a garment stay useful, meaningful, and wearable for longer.
At Alteration Atelier, each project begins with the garment itself. We review the fabric, construction, and condition before suggesting what can be changed with confidence.
Our process is straightforward. After your inquiry, we assess the garment and discuss the redesign idea, then provide a concept scope and quote based on the inspection. Once the design is approved, the remodelling work begins, followed by a fit or finish review before collection.
Because every piece is different, materials such as thread, zippers, lining, buttons, or lace are quoted separately when needed and can only be confirmed after review. This keeps the project realistic, transparent, and suited to the garment in front of us.
